Summer fun!

Nate and I are loving our summer vacation. We have a somewhat established routine and hang out around the house most days. I'm loving the one-on-one time I am getting with him. He's growing up so fast! He has reached many new accomplishments including rolling over from back to belly, grabbing his feet (I'm sure a picture of toes in the mouth is coming soon), squealing, and mastering the jumperoo. He is developing quite a personality. He's very opinionated for his age and has no problems letting you know when he doesn't like something. He has also grown accustomed to having people around. He will begin to fuss when he doesn't see anyone around and loves it when you play with him. Here are a few shots of him in his element...

Hanging with Sophie and his snail.

He loves to lay and kick on the activity mat. We're still not a fan of tummy time though.

 Roll Tide Roll!!

He loves the blanket Aunt Marquita made for him.

Sacked out! He loves our bed, but doesn't get to nap there very often.

He rolled over to his tummy and promptly got mad. Not a fan of tummy time at all!

It's hard being a baby!

Our little pond pets were outside the other evening doing their thing...

The babies are soo cute!

Thankfully tonight is Matt's last night on night float. He has been working nights throughout the entire month of June and it has not been fun. He gets home between 7:30-8:30 in the morning, goes to bed, wakes up around 3:30-4, showers, and heads out to work. Nate and I have not seen much of him at all this month. We'll be very excited to have him back on a regular schedule.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!!

Moose still exists

So, I'm sure Moose feels replaced now that Nate has arrived. It's somewhat true :-(
He no longer gets the same amount of attention he received before Mr. Man was born. His food is no longer put in his bowl around 6 pm. Sometimes he reminds me around 8ish that he has yet to be fed. His water bowl is not always brimming over, but it does have water! He has to share his space with the baby and gets shooed away when he tries to get on Nate's floor mat. Needless to say, it sounds as if Moose has it rough. In honor of my big kitty, I decided to devote this entire blog post to him. No Nate pictures at all!

Even though he is receiving less attention, Moose does not let this get him down! When he wants attention, he demands attention. Thankfully, he's a cat and does not feel the need to be under your feet all day. Here are some recent pictures of Moose doing what he does best!

He loves to look out the window. I had to bring some stuff home from school and the boxes now provide a platform for him to relax while his head rests on the window sill.

He keeps Matt company as he naps during the day!

He's looking out the window watching the lizards.

Moose is still a great big brother. He definitely lets me know when Nate is screaming and I think he has adjusted well to the new addition. We love our Moose!!

Random musings

As I write this, Nate is napping and I am taking a quick break. There has not been a lot going on since I last posted. We're enjoying summer and trying to stay cool. It has been extremely HOT here lately. Along with the extreme temperatures, there has been an extreme amount of smoke. There are forest fires burning a little south of us in FL and to the north in GA. I have decided that I do not trust the meteorologist down here at all! He has promised rain today for the past few days. I get up this morning only to find out it's coming tomorrow. Ugh. Another day of smoke and high humidity. Great.

The view from our patio yesterday. Not fog - smoke.

Matt got home this morning a little earlier than normal and was able to be awake with us as Nate was winding down from breakfast. Nate's on somewhat of a great routine where he'll get up, eat, and then take a nice, long nap. He's been down for about three hours now. Sadly, I tend to nap some with him. I should be up doing things around the house, but I often find myself being lazy. Matt's asleep too so I can't make too much noise! Oh, well. Nate does keep me up late! There's my justification!

He was helping me in the kitchen the other day!

Speaking of Nate, he has graduated to eating rice cereal each night. He's doing well considering we've only been doing it for two days. The pediatrician said it was okay for him to start to eat from a spoon and for me to feed him the cereal nightly and top him off with a bottle. It is a messy endeavor, but entertaining! Also, we have doctor confirmation on the teething. Yay. Poor Nate. We finally get the reflux somewhat under control and now he has to go through the horrors of teething! He had a great couple of weeks with no issues and he was a completely different child. He wants so badly to be a happy baby. He is a happy baby; when he's feeling great he is this sweetest, happiest baby around. He smiles, laughs, coos, and has a blast. However, when he's not feeling so hot, watch out!

I must admit that the cereal does not look appetizing.

 Before

First bite. He did really well considering this was his first time!

 The after shot!

We did better on day 2! Not nearly as big of a mess as the day before!

He loves his teething giraffe. He and Sophie are big buddies!

Finally, a big congratulations to Matt who found out this morning he was awarded intern of the year. I'm not sure how the voting goes down or who all gets a vote, but that seems to be a pretty big accomplishment. Sadly, he wasn't there to accept his award. Why? He was home sleeping! Thankfully nights are almost over and he'll be a more sociable person come July!

3 Months!

Last Saturday we traveled to Savannah to get Nate's 3 month photos taken. He was great for the first 10-15 minutes and then it quickly went downhill. However, our photographer was fantastic and was more than willing to work with a fussy baby! She got some great shots and I'd like to share a few. The pictures were taken by Jelly Bean Portraits. If you're in the Jacksonville/Savannah area I highly recommend Julie!

The fussiness started after those shots and she still managed to get in some good poses!

And now a few of the shots that captured his mood for most of the shoot!

Thankfully his daddy was there to make it all better!

We had a fun time on our trip to Savannah. We'll do it again in 3 months!!!

Celebrate we will 'cause life is short, but sweet for certain

We have several things to celebrate lately! First up, a big thank you to Aunt Chanlee who read my last blog and deemed us worthy of borrowing her old camera until mine is either replaced or put back together. We're now back in the business of picture taking and I can document more of the craziness that occurs in our life.

We are now celebrating the fact that school is out for summer!! Friday was my last day and I'm very thankful to now be home with Mr. Man again. Speaking of Mr. Man, he has decided to sleep through the night!! Yay!! He decided about 2 weeks ago that it was more fun to be awake during the day and to sleep at night. Last night he went down around 9:30 and decided to wake up around 8 am. It has been nice. My fingers are crossed that it continues :-) He's also sleeping in his crib. Our little man is growing up!

Since I have a new camera and since I have been nowhere to take pictures, this blog will mostly be a Nate update. A few weekends ago I got him a Bumbo because he was trying so hard to sit up. Needless to say, he's a fan!

Helping Matt play Super Mario World

He loves the TV!

We also decided he needed a Jumperoo. He has taken to trying to put weight on his legs and kicking us. So, of course, it was time to find some lovely toy that let him work his legs. It now looks like a baby store threw up in our living room. Nate has so much stuff. I never thought we'd end up buying most of these things, but I have discovered they were invented for a reason. He loves them and they entertain him.

Matt was working to get the height adjusted for him.

 Trying it out!

The next day he got the hang of it and jumped himself to sleep!

I made the mistake of picking him up to put him in his bed. Won't be doing that again! From now on, if he falls asleep in the jumper, he naps in the jumper!

We also celebrated Nate's three month birthday last week. He had his picture made with Mr. Potato Head and then yesterday he had some professional shots done in Savannah.

Happy 3 months, Nate!! (and Roll Tide!!)

We spent a few hours last weekend watching Tangled. Nate was a fan. He sat in my lap and watched a lot of the movie. He didn't finish it because he got hungry and sleepy.

Watching Tangled.

Here are some random pictures of Nate doing his baby thing....

The pack and play with the mobile is mesmerizing.

Not sure if he's teething for real or just drooling a lot, but he did like the teething pacifiers!

Now that summer is here I hope to post more often. I'm sure Nate and I will have plenty of summer adventures to write about!
